All Hallow’s Read

Hello Readers,

Happy All Hallow’s Read!

Today is Neil Gaiman’s new holiday where you give a scary book to someone special.  We all need more excuses to give books as gifts right?

Check out the great website for All Hallow’s Read and be sure to watch the video explanation by Gaiman himself (and a bunch of zombies).

We here at SMS Guys Read created an All Hallow’s Read display in our school media center, with book suggestion bookmarks.

Here is a list of the book recommendations from the bookmark, I made it using the Publisher program and can’t upload that file type to wordpress.

SMS Guys Read Recommend…

  • Guys Read: Thriller
  • The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
  • Coraline by Neil Gaiman
  • The Death of Yorik Mortwell  by Stephen Messer
  • Zombie Haiku by Ryan Mecum
  • Half-Minute Horrors
  • 3:15 Things that go Bump in the Night by Patrick Carman
  • Skeleton Creek by Patrick Carman
  • Attack of the Vampire Weenies  by David Lubar
  • Frankenstein Makes A Sandwich by Adam Rex

So on this All Hallow’s Read pick up a scary book and read it for yourself.  You might also pass it on.

Read on,

Mr. H

  1. I think that this is just an amazing new idea from Neil Gaiman (my favorite scary story author, by the way). He gives a good point that there are no holidays that you can give a book to someone for. At least, not a holiday where they would actually like the book. I hope that in the next few years, this “holiday” becomes a big hit and also a national holiday.
